The Experience
Hippos rest offers the experience of relaxation away from the city life. Only 1km from its own prime beach and on the border of a national park.
The Area
The region is well known for its bird life, small animals and the hippos. Watch the wildlife from ontop of your mountain and the vast zulu land
Accomodation
Hippos Rest has a range of accomodation options. Private cabins for couples and bed rooms for pairs and friends. Hippos rest is a group camp. So there is nobody there but you and our cleaning staff.
The Beach
The beach is undisturbed. A private beach side experience. There is also turtle spotting and fishing activities
Being Green
Hippos Rest is all about getting away. We use gas and oil to heat water and cook out there. We have solar panels for lights and charging electronics. There is cellphone signal if you are missing facebook that much.
Food and Accomodation
We supply the gear and you supply the food. Self catering. There are gas stoves and fridges at Hippos Rest for you to use. Cuttlery and cooking utencils are all there. The only things to bring is yourself and some Kos (‘Afrikaans for food’)
Finer Details
You will have staff with you to give you transport to the beaches, getting access to parks and good spots to go see.
Laundry, bedding and setting up the camp fire are all done for you. There is cellphone signal and solar for charging devices.
